HOST FAMILY: Why an
AuPair?
Having an AuPair means huge support in organizing the daily
life.
Especially for parents with flexible working schedule is an Au
Pair the ideal solution having their children observed and safe.
The fact that your children get safely picked up from kindergarden,
preschool or school gives you the flexibility in planning your
day. Even making plans in the evenings gets more easier. An AuPair
is
also three times a week available for babysitting.
For families who got a newborn, an AuPair can be big support – especially
when other siblings are around.
Furthermore a lot of families experience having a foreign family
member as an extension of their own horizon.
Au Pairs may enrich family life as they tell about their countries
and culture, introduce typical dishes to their host families or
even talk in their native language to parents and children.
Origin
countries
of the Au Pairs
Many host families’ preference would be an
English-speaking AuPair. Unfortunately there are hardly applications
from these countries.
Multiple reasons are decisive for that. The enlargement of student-exchange-programs
or EU-subventioned mobility-programs offers young people bride
and very popular opportunities to come to Austria and study the
language.
EU-citizens whom wants to work in childcare in Austria are free
to do that everytime in every country as a nanny. They get a salary,
which is not to compare with the usual AuPair pocket money.
For AuPairs from overseas, actually the application skills for
the Austrian Au Pair program, which are prescribed by the labour
exchange,
are the hindrance of becoming an Au Pair in Austria.
Especially the confirmation of german knowledge performs a problem
for interested people.
In conclusion we may establish, that for young people who are able
to afford a longer stay abroad, the AuPair program is not that
attractive anymore. In opposition, for girls from the eastern European
countries,
the Austrian AuPair Program means a huge chance to them.
First of all they get the chance to bring their german knowledge
up to perfection and get a language diploma. On the other hand
in regard with the EU-extension, every stay in some EU-countries
increases
the job-opportunities in the girls' home countries.
Most applicants have already been as an AuPair in Germany, speak
german pretty well and got experience in childcare.
Occasionally we also get applicants from our corporative-agencies
in south America. |
